Argentinian Daniel Diaz has won the ninth Tour De San Luis.
Dani Diaz of the Funvic-São José dos Campos had a lead of 1.06 going into stage seven which was a 122.4km stage that started and finished in San Luis.
Rodolofo Torres wrapped up his King Of The Mountains jersey by taking the final points on the day's climb ahead of Leonardo Duque and Luis Laverde before Sebastián Tolosa beat Juan Arango and José Rodríguez to the points for the first intermediate sprint.
A break finally formed and in it was Adriano Malori of Movistar, Moyano of San Luis, Gastauer of AG2R, Golas of Elixx Quick Step, Voeckler of Europcar, Niemiec of Lampre, Benjamin King of Cannondale/Garmin, Bandiera of Androni and Finetto of the Italian national squad.
They were 2.50 clear but the peloton which included Mark Cavendish - the stage favourite, brought the gap down to 2.20 and then let it go out to three minutes before pegging the lead to 1.45 with 43kms left.
With the peloton closing in, the six out front started attacking each other but everyone was swept up and there was Mark Cavendish to take the victory in 2.33.29 ahead of Fernando Gaviria, Jakub Mareczko and Sacha Modolo.
