Mark Renshaw feels that four victories would be a good haul for Mark Cavendish in the Tour De France which starts tomorrow.
Renshaw was speaking about Cavendish in at a HTC Highroad press conference in Les Herbiers ahead of the 98th Tour De France which starts tomorrow.
The press conference for the most successful team in world cycling was introduced by those doyens of the tour in broadcasting terms, Phil Liggett (pictured below) and former rider Paul Sherwen who are covering their 25th tour together for ITV4 and Versus in America.
It was a conference that was also broadcast worldwide via the HTC Highroad website and other forms of their media including Ustream.
Renshaw when asked how many stage Mark Cavendish who has already won a British record fifteen TDF stages told the media that he had not properly studied the roadbook but felt that four stage victories in what was a changed tour due to ASO including some uphill sprint finishes, would be a good haul.
For Cavendish's part, the Manx Missile said that every one of his fifteen wins in the TDF was special. He cited his first one which incidently provides the finish in stage seven of this year's race and the two wins in Paris on the Champs Élysées in Paris as being special.
Cavendish said about those finishes in Paris that this was proof that he can finish a tour and ride over a category 2 climb for those who think he cannot ride over a bridge.
