Coventry’s Jordan Cooke registered an impressive fourth round stoppage victory over Lee Connelly last night at Genting Arena, Solihull, writes Ziad Chaudry.
The 22-year-old lightweight prospect advances to eight pro victories. He said on his facebook page: “Just want to say a massive thank you to everyone who came to support me last night, your support goes a long way and hope to bring more and more support to my future fights.
“Thanks to my trainers Paul Soggy Counihan Jon Pegg Louie Counihan for a great camp, your time and effort in the gym is greatly appreciated. My S&C coach Jonathon Reynolds for the work we have put in has also been vital this camp.
“And finally thanks to my manager David Coldwell & Eddie Hearn for the opportunity to perform on the big stage.."
Also on the bill that saw London’s Bradley Skeete claim the British and Commonwealth welterweight titles from Brummie lad Sam Eggington, Cooke’s fellow Cov boy and Sky Blues fanatic Mike Byles took some real punishment before surviving the full eight rounds with Peterborough’s Cello Rendo.
The 28-year-old middleweight has now lost 4 of his 12 outings
