Fabian Cancellera admitted that he wil lbe riding the Tour De France which starts tomorrow for fun.
The Swiss rider, along with his Leopard Trek team was at a press conference at the media centre in the Gymnase de l'Etendeure in the small town of Les Herbiers in the Vendee region this morning.
The Luxembourg based team in their first year include Fabian Cancellera as well the talented Andy and Frank Schleck and Jens Voigt who all have good tour pedigrees.
Their manager Brian Nygaard stressed that being a new team they considered interaction with the fans on the road and in general very important, whilst Andy Schleck said that this year he was the leader of his team unlike in previous years and this year, being in a Luxembourg team would be a fantastic adventure. He said: "Everything is 100% and in the mountains, I am looking for victories."
Both of the Schlecks admitted that the time trial was not their speciality and they were not in the time trialing league of Fabian Cancellera but were looking to make up time elsewhere.
For this tour, Cancellera admitted that he will be very much of a team player. He said: "I have different ambitions this year and will ride a different race.
"I am in a team and I will play my part in what is a strong team but I am looking to have fun.
"I will use all my energy and experience to get Andy and Frank on the podium but I will take my chance when it comes."
