Katusha's Alexandr Kristoff has won the Vattenfall Classic.
A race in which the London Surrey Classic takes some inspiration from, was a 246km race around Hamburg in Germany.
Eighteen World Tour teams entered with the likes of Mark Cavendish amongst those who took the start but it was Matzka, Thurau and Bonifazio who were in the lead with 57kms to go.
As the gap started to drop, Matzka had to leave Thurau and Bonfazio to it and everyone was back together with 28.5kms left.
British rider Simon Yates got into the break with Trentin, Alaphilippe, Boaro and Marcato.
Boaro and Alaphilippe attacked but they were caught and it was Jack Bauer who Bauer took over on the front inside the final ten kilometres after going past Van Avermaet and Boasson Hagen.
Bauer was caught with six kilometres left and Nicholas Roche of Tinkoff Saxo and Roche and Janse Van Rensburg had a small lead but they too were caught by the teams looking to get a finish for the sprinters.
That sprint happened and it was Katusha's Alexandr Kristoff who won the race, beating Nizzolo and Simon Gerrans in 5.55.54.
