Omega Pharma's Michal Kwiatkowski won the Trofeo Serra de Tramuntana in Mallorca.
The third race in the Iberostar Challenge 2014 series held on the island of Mallorca was the Trofeo Serra de Tramuntana, a 1.1 European Tour 150k long race.
A day for the climbers with two Category 3 climbs, two Category 2 climbs and the Category One - Col de Polg Major, Sir Bradley Wiggins was amongst those taking part.
Andrey Zeits of Astana and Frederik Willems of Lotto took an early leader followed by twelve chasers and after 20kms, had 35 seconds on them.
That lead lasted until the 29km mark and Astana's Tanel Kangert, Petr Vakoc of Omega Pharma Quick Step, Katusha' Maxim Belkov, Antonio Piedra pf Caja Rural & Javier Megias of Nordisk took over front running duties and shot away taking a lead of 8.40.
It had dropped to 7.45km with 50kms to go and with the likes of Movistar leading the chase, their lead was down to 3.50 with 32kms left when Mejias and Piedra seized the chance to gain some time on Del Pino, Kangert, Vakoc and Belkov.
That brought attacks from the peloton as the riders started the Col de Pulg Major with Omega Pharma's Michal Kwiatkowski and Team Sky's Sergio Henao getting to 2.45 behind Mejias and Piedra with 25kms remaining.
Five kilometres later and Kwiatkowski and Henao had the gap down to 1.10. Kwaitkowski pressed on and was able to make it into the group of escapers for the final six kilometres.
Inside the final kilometre, Omega Pharma's Michal Kwiatkowski took control to win the race beating Boasson Hagen, Gavazzi, Brambilla and Vakoc.
