Ireland's Danny Martin finished fourth in the La Flèche Wallonne Ardennes Classic this afternoon.
A gruelling 205km race which centres on the Mur de Huy started in Binche and saw Gilles Devilliers (Crelan-Euphony), Pirmin Lang (IAM) and Accent Job-Wanty's Jurgen Van Goolen get away with twenty kilometres gone.
The trio were able to build up a lead of ten minutes but by the time, they had start on the first assault of the Mur De Huy after 108kms, their lead was down to seven minutes.
A top quality peloton started to reel them in and on the the Côte de Bohisseau, they finally caught.
Laurens Ten Dam (Blanco) and Romain Bardet (AG2R-La Mondiale) chanced their arm forcing BMC to work at the front to chase them down. Bardet was dropped on the second climb of Du Huy and Ten Dam was joined by Argos-Shimano's Simon Geschke.
They too were caught and a large group of riders were on the front for the final climb of Mur Du Huy.
World Champion Philippe Gilbert was in second wheel behind Carlos Betancur but got his attack wrong and found himself being over-taken by the chasers including Katusha's Daniel Moreno who shot to victory in a time of 4.52.33, finishing three second ahead of Team Sky's Serge Henao, Carlos Betancur and Garmin-Sharp's Danny Martin.
Team Sky's Josh Edmondson finished 43rd and BMC's Steve Cummings finished 138th.
