German rider Tony Martin is considering an attempt on the World Hour Record in 2015.

Speaking to German website Radsport News, the Omega Pharma Quick Step rider said: "This is on my agenda and I will discuss in December with my team, as to whether an attempt can be implemented so that my goals on the road will not be affected.

"That is the essential factor: I need to find a date and a preparation variant that does not affect my road shape. Since I have capable people around me - and a team that supports me. So I think that we will find a date, best in the coming year.

Sir Bradley Wiggins is also set to attempt the record in 2015 and Martin expects Wiggins, who took over his World Time Trial crown back in September, to be the record holder if he attempts to beat the record currently held by Mattias Brandle of IAM Cycling.

Martin said: "Wiggins, above all, his advantage from the outset is already infinitely large in terms of experience. He comes from a track background.

"I sure need a longer adaptation time than he. Because maybe two, three or four experiments will be needed to grasp exactly what he is likely to present. But I want to work on it, and after the first training sessions on the track I wiil be able to tell if it is a realistic aim or not."
