Rapha Condor's Tom Moses joined the list of British riders who have won a stage of a professional race when he won the opening stage of the Tour De Normandie.
One hundred and forty nine riders set off on a 200km stage from Colombelles to Forges-les-Eaux in the rain.
There had been twenty five kilometres of racing when Mark Christian (Team Raleigh ) , Kevin Lalouette ( USSA Pavilly Barentin ) and Stef Van Zummeren (Team 3M) attacked and took a lead of 7.50.
The rain and headwind helped to bring them back and just before the final circuit around Forges -les-Eaux, they were caught and attacks and counter attacks were the theme of the final twenty eight kilometres.
With the peloton split in two, Thomas Moses ( RaphaCondor JLT) took off. He got upto thirty seconds ahead before the lead group came back and took ten seconds back but Moses was not be denied and battled on to win the race and take the stage win, the leaders yelow jersey, the green sprint jersey and the white young riders jersey.
Wednesday's stage two is from Forges -les-Eaux to Elbeuf -sur- Seine.
