The 2013 Giro D'Italia will start in Naples for its 96th edition, it has been announced in Milan.
The route which will be 3405kms long, starts in Naples on Saturday May 4th with a 156km road stage and finishes in Brescia on Sunday May 26th.
The second stage will see the first of three time trials. The first will be a team one on Sunday May 5th over a 17.4km course on the island of Ischia, with the two others, a 55.5km individual time trial from Gabicce Mare to Saltara on stage 8 and a 19.4km mountain time trial on stage 18.
Unlike last year when the race started in Denmark, the race will be mainly on Italian roads with only a finish on top of the Galibier in France, and the rest day and start of stage sixteen in the ski resort of Valloire.
