Trek Factory Racing's Giacomo Nizzolo has won the 18th Grand Premio Nobil in Italy.

A warm up race for the Milan-San Remo, over 187.5kms from Suno to  Stresa, there was a decent field for this race.

There had been no breaks in the opening sixty two kilometres but with 95kms completed, a group of 28 riders got clear and took a lead of two minutes.

That group was trimmed down to seven riders in Canola, Anacona, Meier, Kochekov, Vorganov, Pellizotti and Finetto with fifty kilometres left and eighteen kilometres later, their lead was at 54 seconds and saw them brought back before the final climb of the Massino Visconti.

Allejandro Valverde of Movistar was now out in front with Davide Rebellin of CCC Sprandel and they took a lead of 25 seconds over the peloton with 27kms left.

Fourteen kilometres later and this duo still had a lead of ten seconds which they extended to twenty one seconds going into the final twelve kilometres with Cannondale - Garmin and Katusha trying to bring them back.

It was a move that succeded two kilometres later and with gruppo compacto, this race was heading for a reduced bunch sprint of around fifty riders after a number of withdrawals.

That happened and it was Giacomo Nizzolo of Trek Factory Racing who won ahead in 4.01.30 ahead of Simeon Ponzi of Southeast, Marco Haller of Katusha, JJ Lobato of Movistar and Grega Bole of CCC Sprandl
