Matteo Pelucchi of IAM Cycling has won the Tour Of Poland third stage.
Marcel Kittel of Giant Alpecin was still in the lead for this third 166km stage from Zawiercie to Katowice which had two climbs and four closing laps of 14.7kms.
Team Sky’s Ian Boswell, Burghardt, Mohoric, Kurek and Bialoblocki formed an early break that was 1.45 ahead with Gradek is chasing them, some forty seconds behind.
They were three minutes clear before taking the Special Intermediate Sprint in Tarnowskie, which Bialoblocki won but the gap was coming down and was down to 1.35 when Kamil Kurkek took the 1st Sprint Prime in Piekary Sl¹skie with 72kms gone.
After the second Lotto Sprint Prime which Bialoblocki took, six up front became four with Mohoric, Bialoblocki, Kurek and Bosell still in the lead.
Bialoblocki took the third sprint as the gap dropped to two minutes with less than sixty kilometres gone and the riders now on the closing laps.
It was Kurek’s turn to get some points when the King Of The Mountains leader of CCC was first over the category three climb in Katowice after 136kms.
Ian Boswell tried to chase after Bialoblocki who was 35 seconds ahead with 17.5kms left. Bosewell was caught by the peloton by Martin Biablocki was away and driving hard with an eighteen second lead with six kilometres to go.
The peloton had enough of him and brought him back and it was Petr Vacoc who was first under the flam rouge.
LottoNL-Jumbo were straight on his wheel. Marcel Kittel, the race leader was caught on the climb and in a time of 3.47.38, Matteo Pelucchi of IAM Cycling took the win for the second stage in succession ahead of Nizzolo and Van Asbroeck.
