Peter Sagan of Tinkoff Saxo has won the tenth Amgen Tour Of California Individual Time Trial.
The time trial was moved to Saint Clarita due to snow at Big Bear Lake and the finish was now at the Six Flag Magic Mountain resort close to Santa Clairita.
Jos Van Emden of the LottoNL-Jumbo side set the fastest times to beat of 12.46 and it looked a good time as plenty of riders failed to get anywhere near it with Daniele Bennati of Tinkoff-Saxo getting closest in 12:53.
Winner of three stages in this race Mark Cavendish, rode well after setting off at 2.16pm local time passing his minute man to clock a time of 13.16.38 which saw the Manxman go into a provisional seventh place.
Into the final twenty riders and Peter Kennaugh of Team Sky finished in 13.10 with Joey Rosskopf of BMC finishing in 12:51 to go second.
Last down the ramp was race leader Toms Skujins who had a eighteen second lead over Peter Sagan.
Etixx Quick Step's Julie Alaphilippe, who was forty four seconds down on Skujins, finished in 12.50.03 to go second.
Peter Sagan of Tinkoff Saxo was flying and he finished in 12.31.85 to take the stage.
It was now a question as to whether he would take over as the race leader and needing a time of 12.49 to keep his jersey, Skujins was out side the time and finished in 13.17.47 to give Peter Sagan the win and race lead.
