Last updated : 19 July 2014 By Penny Dain

Next year’s Prudential RideLondon festival of cycling will take place on Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 August 2015.

The exact routes and timings for the 2015 events will be confirmed after the post-event evaluation of this year’s event, which takes place over the weekend of 9-10 August 2014.

The online ballot for places in next year’s Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100 will open on www.PrudentialRideLondon.co.uk on Monday 18 August 2014.

The ballot will close on Monday 5 January 2015 or when 100,000 registrations have been received – whichever is earlier. The 2014 ballot, which accepted 80,000 registrations, closed in less than four weeks.

The Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, said: “Tens of thousands of cyclists turned out for the inaugural Prudential RideLondon as Londoners of all ages and abilities got on their bikes. It is fantastic news that the event is not only returning this year, but in 2015 as well, adding another world-class event to London’s sporting line-up.”

Surrey County Council leader David Hodge said: "With leg-sapping climbs, people cheering riders on and a route made famous by the Olympics, this year's event again promises to be truly special while also showcasing Surrey's amazing countryside and boosting our economy. I'm sure it will inspire many more people to get on their bike with the aim of emulating the professional and amateur cyclists in next year's London Marathon on wheels."

Held for the first time in 2013, Prudential RideLondon immediately set new records as it became the largest inaugural mass-participation event in the world with 66,000+ participants and raised more than £7 million for charity, making it the largest charity cycling event in the UK. An unprecedented 99 per cent of participants rated the event good or excellent.
