John Degenkolb made it two out of two with victory on the fifth stage of the Vuelta a Espana.
Stage Five on a scorching day was from Priego de Cordoba to Ronda and was 180kms long.
With Michael Matthews in the red jersey, Pim Ligthart and Tony Martin broke away after a few kilometres and Ligthart stayed away until 32kms to go, taking the maximum points on the first and second sprints.
When he was caught, the pace which had been incredibly slow ramped up thanks to work from Tinkoff Saxo before there was a split.
About fifty riders were in the lead group including the favourites and under the flam rouge and past the pinch point, BMC were controlling things on the front.
De Cort of Giant Shimano came up but so did Nacer Bouhani and John Degenkolb and it was the German from Giant Shimano in the Green Jersey, who won for a second successive day in 4.04.21 ahead of Bouhani and Moreno Hofland of Belkin.
Matthew keeps his leaders jersey and Degenkolb keeps the points jersey.
