Simon Spilak won the 50th Rennen „Rund um den Finanzplatz.
This race in Germany from Eschborn to Frankfurt, attracted some big names which included the likes of Omega Pharma Quick Step's Tony Martin, fresh from his time trial victory in the Tour de Romandie on Sunday amongst the 184 riders from twenty four teams.
With 50kms to go, Voss, Sieberg, Preidler, Reichenbach & Morkov were away in a break which was soon followed by Tony Martin catching up to Preidler and Reichenbach who had dropped the other escapers, three kilometres later.
Over the Mammolshainer Berg, with its gradients of 26% for the final time and the race was back together.
Moser, Pozzovivo and Simon Spilak attacked and were thirty seconds clear with 8.9kms to go.
Just before the final kilometre, Moser and Spilak shed Pozzovivo and with the peloton closing in, Spilak took the win ahead of Moser with Andre Greipel in third.
