Team Sky will unveil their new Pinarello Dogma K8-S dogma bike at the Tour Of Flanders on Sunday.
The carbon fibre bike has a suspension system that will deal with the famous cobbles that this race throws up and been designed by technicians working for car manufacturer Jaguar who are based in Coventry.
Sir Bradley Wiggins and Christian Knees have already tested the new system on some of the secteurs that will be used in the Paris-Roubaix race and were used in the 2014 Tour De France, after months of testing.
Jaguar have said that the new K8-S frame provides 50% more comfort for the rider and an increase overall performance of 4.6% from their previous model.
Sir David Brailsford, principal of Team Sky, has said to Cycling Weekly: “We’ve been able to knit together Pinarello’s world-class knowledge in bike design and Jaguar’s industry-leading technological and engineering expertise, with a proven winning team of riders and experts in human performance, to come up with something truly ground-breaking.
“The Dogma F8 was the first real breakthrough of this partnership, and we’ve now taken it a step further. The Dogma K8-S is a significant jump in terms of a bike’s impact of performance. It’s rare for one small design innovation to make such a large difference. This is one of those situations.”
