Mark Cavendish lost his Maglia Rosa jersey after Team Sky won the Team Time Trial at the Giro D'Italia.
The island of Ischia was the setting for this 17.4km team time trial and at 15.40 local time, the Colombian national team were the first of the 23 teams down the ramp for the cronosquadre as it is known in Italian.
The teams then set off at three minute intervals with AG2R and Blanco the next to go.
Colombia set the first checkpoint time after 7.5kms of 10.36, which was beaten by the next three teams.
At 16.01, Team Sky with race favourite Sir Bradley Wiggins set off using time trial bikes, just before Colombia completed the course in a time of 23.01.
Not surprisingly, that time was soon to fall with AG2R coming home in 22.55 and Blanco in 22.33.
With Danny Pate and Wiggins drilling Team Sky, their five riders finished in a time of 22.05, some twenty eight seconds better than Blanco, whose time was then beaten by Vini Fantini who finished in 22.27.
Katusha came home second in a time in 22.24 as Movistar who have British rider Alex Dowsett in their nine man team went through the first time check quicker than Team Sky's time of 10.12.
Maglia Rosa wearing Mark Cavendish and his Omega Pharma Quick Step team were the last team down the ramp, setting off just before Movistar came in nine seconds down on Team Sky's time.
Astana had set a good time and came in with a time of 22.19, with BMC who had Steve Cummings and Adam Blythe finishing in a time of 22.44.
Omega Pharma Quick Step were unable to trouble Team Sky with a finish of 22.53 and a place of seventeenth, meaning that Cavendish had lost the leaders jersey to Team Sky's 23 year old second year professional Salvatore Puccio, who is competing in his first Giro D'Italia.
1 Team Sky 22.05, 2 Movistar 22.14, 3. Astana 22.19
