The tenth anniversary Tour of Britain will enjoy its biggest ever field, with 114 riders from 19 teams starting the 2013 Tour in Peebles next month.
Almost half of the field will have raced in Grand Tours during the 2013 season, with Tour de France winners Sky Pro Cycling heading the world-class line-up that also includes a further four UCI Pro Teams from the sport’s World Tour, plus Milan San Remo winning team MTN Qhubeka.
While a number of teams will be familiar to Tour of Britain spectators, three teams will make their debuts in Britain’s biggest professional cycle race. Two teams new to the sport, IAM Cycling and Madison Genesis, ride The Tour, while the longstanding Movistar squad from Spain will ride The Tour of Britain for the first time this September.
“This year’s Tour of Britain will have a world-class line-up bringing a number of international stars to race on British roads, while at the same time allowing our top domestic teams and a Great Britain squad to race on the biggest stage possible for them,” said Race Director Mick Bennett.
“The make-up of teams will provide another exciting and unpredictable Tour from a racing perspective, whether you are watching at the roadside or at home on the live television coverage.”
