Porterfield went for 83 but Chopra went on to make 111 from 139 balls including five fours and a six as Warwicks made 273-5 from their fifty overs.
Sussex started reasonably well putting on seventy one for the first wicket but Boyd Rankin, Josh Poysden and Jeetan Palal soon had the visitors on 89-5.
Ateeq Javid and Jeetan Patal then took quick wickets and with Oliver Hannon-Dalby mopping up the tail-enders, Sussex were all out for 155 and Warwicks were the winners by 118 runs.
