The winner take all match at the top of Division 8 East went the way on Dunlop who led the division at the start of the day, visiting Attleborough in second place. Making 176 for 9 in their 45 overs Dunlop restricted their opponents to 143 all out to take the title.
Another matter which will also go to the final match which is rearranged until next week in the runners up spot in Division 7. All the contenders won on Saturday and with this Copsewood made themselves favourites for the title and secured a promotion place, a double celebration as their 2nds took second place in division 11 East. With Ward End Unity winning to stay 12 points adrift of Continental Star and 13 from Copsewood the race for the title and second goes to the match next week were Copsewood play Ward End Unity.
Division 8 West see Aston CC 2nds taking the division with an impressive 321 points, whilst Hampton and Solihull are second in the tables, Bournville still have a match to play and will be hopeful in securing 14 points from there fixtures against Wishaws 2nds next week to overhaul Hampton and Solihull.
Divisions 9E and 9W went to Berkswell , Ansley 2nd and continental Star with Aston unity 2nd, whilst in division 10 East Nuneaton 2nd join Bridge Trust in the promotion slots. Division 10 West see Attock 4ths 2 points ahead of Bridge trust. Division 11 East has Rugby with a massive 375 points 14 wins from 18 played a WCL record and Copsewood seconds joining them in the promotion places.
Things get a bit more complicated in 11West were Selly Park play the next 2 weekends in rearranged fixtures, and could get to 225 points, with Handsworth on 229 they are champions but Selly Park can still beat the 220 of Solihull Blossomfield. Similarly in 12 East Fillongly need 2 wins but this time to take the title being 41 points adrift of Standard with Pakshaheen second. In 12 west Smethwick and Lyndworth should have played each other today and the champions will become clearer when that result is in, Shenley fields still having an outside chance of the title.
The bank holiday weekend in the past has sorted out the Premier division but not this year, rain washing out the Monday program meaning that the Saturday results plus 4 points a team stand. Olton and West Warwick 6 point lead disappeared on Saturday when Hampton and Solihull held out for a draw. The 255 for 3 declared with Gatley 78 and Hawkins 56 was always too many for Hampton to chase, however stubborn resistance and 80 from Johangir Khan saved them from defeat. Handsworth took full advantage gaining 24 points versus their rivals 17 for a 1 point lead today in the WCL top division. Carby Dawkins with 101 not out the star of this one.
With 2 games to go Aston can be congratulated on being in the top 2 in division2 now 62 points ahead of 3rd, and Mosley Ashfield have run away with division 3 with 348 points in 20 games. Division4 the firs combined division from 2015 is so close any of 5 clubs could still win it, and division 5 and 6 are in similar situations.
