Ian Westwood made 81 on the opening day of Warwickshire's County Championship game with Nottinghamshire.
Warwicks started the day twelve points clear at the top of the table and won the toss and decided to bat at Edgbaston
They lost Varun Chopra for eleven and then Westwood and Porterfield put on a partnership of 52 before the Irishman was bowled by Franks for 26.
Westwood and Jim Troughton added 83 more runs before first Troughton was Franks second victim after making forty and shortly afterwards, a good innings from Westwood ended when he was trapped lbw by Franks after making 81.
After 67 overs, Warwicks were on 233-4 and ended the day on 298-5.
