Coventry born Ian Bell helped steer England to a five wicket victory over the West Indies at Lords.
England were set 191 to win and resumed on 10-2. They lost Jon Trott who had made 13 with the score on 39 and Kevin Pietersen also for thirteen.
That brought Bell and Alistair Cook to the crease and although Cook went for 79 just two runs short of the target, an unbeaten 63 by the Warwickshire batsman from 103 balls took England to a five wicket victory.
The second Test at Trent Bridge, Nottingham starts on May 25th with the Third Test at Edgbaston starting on June 11th.
