Warwickshire County Cricket Club got their 2011 County Championship campaign with a good opening day of their County Championship game against Somerset at Taunton.
Somerset won the toss and elected to field and soon had a wicket when Ian Westwood was caught by Suppiah for five.
Varun Chopra was in great form and he and Will Porterfield put on 89 for the second wicket before the Irish international went for 45.
Darren Maddy then joined Chopra at the crease on a grey day. Maddy added 67 whilst Trougthton and Clarke both scored six runs each.
Tim Ambrose hit forty including five fours but more superb batting from Chopra saw him at the end of day one on 174 not out and Warwicks on 416-6.
