The capital of Denmark - Copenhagen have made representations to ASO boss Christophe Prudhomme to host a Grand Depart of the Tour De France.
The representations were made by the Danish Embassy in Paris with Monsieur Prudhomme invited to visit Copenhagen and the bid for a Grand Depart between 2019 and 2021 sees a ten kilometre time trial and two stages which would finish in Odense and Sønderborg.
There would be logistical problems for having a Grand Depart the furthest north of France that it has ever been but Mayor Of Copenhagen Frank Jensen said: "Denmark has a lot to offer the Tour de France.
"This is a cycling nation and we could show how cycling plays a major role in our daily lives. The stages we have planned will also offer a sumptuous backdrop for the peloton and television viewers, between historic cities and emblematic landmarks."
