Dimitri Claeys (Wanty - Groupe Gobert) has won the GP Jef Scherens race in Leuvens.
The 50th edition of this European Tour race comprised of 185.7 kilometres and saw the field under-take thirteen laps of a circuit.
De Vries, Druyts, Hoeyberghs, Kouwenhoven, Mottier and Vereecken made the first break and were two minutes clear
The break extended their lead to four minutes but with 100kms left, that was down to 2.30.
Justin Mottier was dropped by the break which was 1.04 ahead with 56kms left.
Eight kilometres later and the peloton was caught as the rain started to come down again.
Tim Wellens of Lotto Soudal attacked but was caught so Dmitri Claeys of Wanty Group and Pim Lithgart of Lotto Soudal took over, followed by De Bondt and Kreder who were 32 seconds behind with sixteen kilometres left.
Onto the last lap and Claeys and Ligthart had a forty second lead with the chasers reeled in.
Claeys dropped Ligthart and went for it and won the race with Pim Ligthart (Lotto Soudal) in second.
