Movistar's Alex Dowsett has said that it always special after he rode to become the British National Time Trial champion for a record breaking fifth time.
Dowsett said about his victory: "It is always special. " I did not have any problems this year and it all went smoothly on a fantastic course.
"Stockton should be hugely proud of what they put on.
"Looking at the map, I was a bit dubious about how town centre it was. But it was flowing, safe and really spectator friendly which is what time trialing is about.
"I paced it really well and I was only twelve seconds up at first checkpoint. The gap to second is a lot less than it was before and hats off to James Cullen and Ryan Perry who juggles his cycling with an Army career thats not something I could do."
