Maurice Chambers became the seventeenth player to record a five wicket haul on his Warwickshire County Cricket Club debt and Laurie Evans hit 137 on the second day of the day County Championship match against Sussex at Edgbaston.
The visitors resumed on 278-7 and Keith Barker quickly took the wicket of Chris Jordan.
In the next over, Maurice Chambers, who has joined Warwicks on loan from Essex for the rest of the season, came in and removed Will Beer who had made 31 and then finished off Sussex and bagged a five wicket haul (5-68) into the bargain when he bowled Magoffin.
Sussex were all out for 311 and that looked to be a big target as Varun Chopra went without scoring and Ateeq Javid went first ball to give Magoffin a second wicket to leave Warwicks with no runs but two wickets down.
Ian Westwood added sixteen before he was caught behind by Brown off the bowling of Jimmy Anyon and with Will Porterfield also out for a duck after being caught by Brown to give Magoffin a third wicket, Warwicks were in trouble at 47-4.
Laurie Evans and Tim Ambrose came to the crease and they put together a fifth wicket partnership of 136 which was finally ended when Ambrose, who had made 61 was caught by Hamilton Brown.
Evans batted on, making a century from 181 balls and going on to hit one six and eighteen fours before he was out for 137.
Tom Milnes was 24 not out as Warwicks ended the day on 252-6.
