Chris Froome said that it was good to be on home roads in the RideLondon race.
Froome, the 2016 Tour De France winner said to CNS Sport after finishing the RideLondon Classic: '' It was amazing what G did.
“The plan was always to get him and Ian Stannard up the road and we were hoping it was going to stick.
"We had hoped that Geraint Thomas and Ian Stannard would stick out until the end but the peloton brought it back and unfortunately for us it all came to nothing.”.
''It was good to be on home roads and good to stretch my legs again.
''I played policeman in the peloton and the race was good preparation for Rio.
''I'll certainly sleep well tonight before flying to Rio.''
''Thanks to everyone who came out today.''
