Warwickshire County Cricket Club made a good start on the opening day of their County Championship game with Lancashire at Edgbaston.
Warwicks won the toss and elected to bat and it proved to be a good decision with Varun Chopra and Ian Westwood both making fifty from 113 balls apiece.
The partnership which had got to 168 was ended when Ian Westwood was first out caught by Horton off the bowling of Proctor for 70.
Chopra and Will Porterfield came together and the pair added sixty before Porterfield, who had made 34, was caught by Horton again.
Chopra had passed the century mark with his one hundred coming from 218 balls and saw ten fours but it ended with him on 113 when he was caught by Brown.
Jim Troughton added seven before being bowled by Shahzad but Darren Maddy (29 not out) and Tim Ambrose (22 not out) steered Warwicks to 289-4 at stumps.
