Mark Cavendish has said that he will be doing his best to Paris at the end of the 2016 Tour De France.
Speaking at the Dimension Data Press Conference at the Tour De France media centre in Saint Lo, Normandy, Cavendish who is only two stages away from beating Bernard Hinaut's record of 27 stages wins in the Grand Boucle, said: "There are possibilities for a few sprints in this year's race.
The last few kilometres have only been added in the last few weeks so we have not had a chance to look at them but there are at least five or six stages that could end in sprints.
" The Tour De France has got harder over the years and there are 28 climbs in this race with less opportunities to sprint.
"There are a lot more GC contenders than ever before and you could have 45 guys inside the final three kilometres and be trying to out manoeuvre them and then set up for the sprint.
" My build up has been different. I don't know how it is going to be. It could be my best , It could be my worst.
"I have made every minute of every day count this year and I am not going into the race to poss about. I am going to get some success for my team mates.
" You never know the circumstances of how things pan out but my team will do their best to get me to Paris and I will do best to be there with them."
