Christine Majerus has won the opening stage of the 2016 Women's Tour in Norwich.
This year's race of five stages started with a 138.5km stage from Southwold to Norwich.
Hoeksma (PHV) took the first climb of the race at Halesworth as the peloton stayed together for the first 37.5kms of the stage.
Eight riders formed a break which got eighteen seconds clear but they were quickly brought back by the peloton which was watched as it went through Beccles by big crowds who saw Marianne Vos of Raboliv take the first intermediate sprint ahead of Gracie Elvin and Lizzie Armitstead.
Elvin & Manly crashed but were able to get back to the peloton which was still altogether as Hoeksma took the second climb at Homersfield.
A group of around twenty riders including British champion Lizzie Armitstead got fourteen seconds clear of a chase group and 23 seconds clear of the peloton but good work from the peloton had that down to thirteen seconds and soon after that break was ended.
With just over twenty kilometres to go, Alison Tetrick of Cylance Cycling went clear, taking a twenty second lead.
The 31 year old American increased that to 55 seconds with fifteen kilometres left
Tetrick kept pushing and had a two hundred metre lead having gone under the flam rouge.
However, she was caught and Christine Meyer of Boels Dolmans took the victory ahead of Marieanne Vos, G.Bronzini, M.Bastianelli and L.Lepistö.
