Medals For Britain At World Track Championships

There were medals for Great Britain tonight at the UCI World Track Cycling Championships in London.

At the Velopark at the Olympic Park, Great Britain's women who included Laura Trott, Cian Horne, Eli Barker and Joanna Rownsell won a Bronze medal in the Women's pursuit. America beat Canada to the Gold medal.

In the mens individual persuit, Andy Tennant beat Owain Douell to the bronze medal. Ganna of Italy won the Gold medal.

Mark Cavendish went in the Mens Omnium Elimination Race needing at least a win and then more good placings in the remaining three heats in order to book his place for Rio 2016.

Cavendish rode well but started to drop back before the was a crash which saw Montero of Brazil and Velts go down.

The race was neutralised and the duo returned although Montero was soon out with 18 laps left.

 Glen O'Shea and Elia Viviani went out whilst Cavendish was into the final five.

Cavendish, Gaviria and Klug went. The German was spent so Fernando Gaviria took the win with Cavendish in second place to move himself up to seventh.

Later, Jon Dibben won a Gold medal for Britain in the Points race.
