American Amber Neben is the new 2016 UCI Womens' World Time Trial champion.
The time trial championship was over a 28.9km course in Doha, Qatar and saw Nada Aljeraiwi (Kuwait) first down the ramp.
However, it was British rider Hannah Barnes who set the early fastest time to beat when she finished in 39:00.
That lead lasted until Trixi Worrax finished in 37:48, Van Vleuten finished in 37:02 and Amber Neben of the USA finished in 36.37.
Britain's Hayley Simmons finishd in 40:24.22 before Anna Van Der Breggen (Netherlands) was the last of the 41 riders to go down the ramp.
Van Der Breggen was forced to break on a curve due to a police motorbike and lost time which meant that Neben took the gold medal beating Ellen Van Dijk by 5 seconds, with Australia's Katrin Garfoot third eight seconds back.
