Greg Van Avermaet has said that winning the Tirreno-Adriatico is good to have on his palmares.
The Belgian took the overall victory by a single second from Peter Sagan following the individual time trial and became the first rider from his country to win the race since 1977.
Speaking to the BMC press office, Van Avermaet, who is now one of the favourites for Saturday's Milan-San Remo, said: “It’s amazing to win this race and it’s really nice to have this on my palmares.
"I’m feeling really confident going into Milan-San Remo this Saturday.
"The Classics are still my main goal but I’m going in with a few nice victories in my pocket. It’s nice to now go to the first big Classic a bit more relaxed.”
