Rain, Rain, More Rain And A Bit Of Cricket

Last updated : 17 June 2012 By Graham Seal

It never ceases to amaze me that even on some of the worse rainy miserable days somewhere in Warwickshire, someone manages to play cricket. So when I saw a few overs at Rugby were the home side struggled to 59 for 3 before the heavens opened I was not that surprised. Then it must have been bright sunshine at Bridge Trust as the Home side had enough time to make 186 before winning and getting a full 24 points against Walmley, P Sehmi 4 for 28, and Shafiq 4 for 27 sharing 8 of the wickets after Humphries made 86 top score of the day. In an oasis in the middle of Birmingham Pickwick and Ansley managed to share a draw with 155 playing 138, and Barby 2nds knocked off 101 against Atherstone.

In the exceedingly tight Division 5 were 1st and 7th, yes 7th are separated by only 9 points, Leamington Khalsa’s persistence in getting a match on, put them right up there. Ward End Unity who if the game had been rained off would have remained top holding out for a lowly 49 in 26 overs before Khalsa cantered well actually sprinted home in 9.4 overs. Another high flying team, Corley in division 3 came unstuck at Wishaw, who’s win now takes them 3rd. Corley bowled over and out for 53 were out powered by Wishaw 59 for 1, but stayed top as Ambleside missed this week due to the resignation of Stockton. I
