After a cracking day yesterday for Warwickshire County Cricket Club in their opening County Championship game of the new season at Taunton, Warwicks ended Day Two with Somerset reeling.
Warwicks resumed on 417-6 with Varun Chopra adding to his unbeaten over night score of 174. Chopra went on to make a blistering 210 before being trapped lbw by Mendis.
Chris Woakes had been with Chopra overnight and added a hundred runs before he was out after a cracking innings of 129 when he was caught by Kirby to give Charlie Willoughby his fourth wicket.
Woakes' dismissal had already seen Warwicks pass the six hundred mark and with a steady 64 from Ant Botha, Warwicks were finally all out for 642.
When Somerset batted, they put on 45 before Marcus Trescothick was caught by Darren Maddy off the bowling of Andrew Miller.
Arul Suppiah hit 2 before he was caught by Chopra to give Rikki Clarke a wicket. That wicket leaving Somerset on 118-2 started a mini-collapse. Chris Woakes took two wickets and Clarke picked up another as the score moved on to 124-5.
Chris Woakes had Kieswetter caught as Somerset closed on 147-6.
