Warwickshire County Cricket Club made steady progress on the opening day of their County Championship game at Sussex.
At Hove, Warwicks, who will be without Oliver Hannon-Dalby for three wickets after he broke his arm in the draw against Somerset, won the toss and decided to bat. Varun Chopra and Will Porterfield put on 67 before the Irishman was caught by Jordan off the bowling of former Warwicks player Jimmy Anyon for 33.
Chopra passed the five hundred runs for the season mark and hit twelve four in a knock of 87 before he too was caught. This time, he was caught behind by Prior to give Nash his first wicket of the game.
That left Warwicks on 141-2 and England internationals Jon Trott, who had been in Coventry on Monday, and Walsgrave hospital born Ian Bell together at the crease.
The pair had pushed the score on to 272 but in the 95th over, Bell was caught behind by Prior from a quick short ball by Chris Jordan after making 56.
Chris Wright came in and added three before he joined the list of players caught by Prior, which gave Chris Jordan his second wicket.
So Warwicks sent in another nightwatchman in Tim Ambrose who was immediately dropped by Yardy but ended the day not out on zero with Jon Trott at the other end unbeaten on 87 as Warwicks closed on 276-4.
