Warwickshire County Cricket Clubhad a good day on the opening day of their three day friendly with Cardiff MCCU.
At Edgbaston where free admission was offered, Cardiff MCCU won the toss and opted to bat first.
They had put on twenty before Elkin was caught by Clarke off the bowling of Andy Miller for ten.
Another fourteen runs were added before the other opener in Will Jones was caught by Varun Chopra to give a wicket to Chris Wright who then had Balbirnie caught for two.
Rikki Clarke had Hamza Siddique trapped lbw for four and the score moved onto fifty four when Tom Milnes picked up his first wicket having Tom Friend caught by Darren Maddy.
Clarke then chipped in with the wicket of Qureshi, caught by Porterfield and Milnes had Bendon caught behind by Tim Ambrose without scoring to see Cardiff on 74-7 at lunch.
Andrew Salter had made 21 but he was soon out when play resumed, trapped lbw by Darren Maddy who also attained thw wicket of Miles to leave the visitors reeling on 90-9.
Cardiff added twenty nine more runs but they were all out in 45 hours when Harris who had made twenty became Clarke's third victim when he was caught by Miller.
Warwicks lost Ian Westwood, who faced seventeen balls without scoring, when he was trapped lbw by Hobden.
Will Porterfield then came in and hit two sixes and three fours as Chopra was out for 22 when he was bowled by Harris, to finish on 27 not out.
Darren Maddy went for five before play was suspended for the day with Warwicks on 82-3.
