Warwickshire County Cricket Club toiled on day two of their County Championship game versus Kent at Canterbury.
The home side resumed on 43-1 with Denly and Coles adding 82 before the latter was caught by Tim Ambrose off the bowling of Rikki Clarke who also took the wicket of Jones for ten.
Denly looked to be on his way to a century after hitting eleven fours but he was caught on 95 by Clarke from a Maddy ball.
van Jaarsveld came in and made a quickfire 47 before he was caught to give Imran Tahir his first wicket and at tea, Kent were 267-5.
Clarke removed Northeast who had made forty and added the wickers of Hockley and Cook to give himself a five wicket haul.
As the end of the final session drew near, Imran Tahir had Khan lbw for a duck but Darren Stephens who was 57 not out and Makhaya Ntini who was yet to score, saw Kent through to stumps with a score of 374-9, a lead of 124.
