At Grace Road, Warwickshire batted first in their final Twenty/20 group game, having already booked their Quarter-Final place.
Jon Trott was out early having only made two runs and Neil Carter who had made 21 from 20 balls was bowled by Hoggard followed suit, leaving Warwicks on 27-2 in the fifth over.
Keith Barker and Jim Troughton put on 37 before Barker was stumped by Nixon. Stratford's Jim Troughton and Darren Maddy who made 41 not out against his former club, added another 38 for the fourth wicket.
Clarke and Ambrose went cheaply whilst Chris Woakes added 18 as Warwicks closed on 137-7.
When Leicestershire batted, Du Toit who scored two lasted only five balls before he was trapped lbw by Chris Woakes who took the scalp of Brad Hodge in the fifth over.
A quick bit of thinking by Tim Ambrose stumped Benning as Warwicks started to put the pressure on the home side. Taylor had made 29 before being caught by Ambrose to give Barker his first of two wickets.
With Nixon caught and White bowled by Barker, Leicestershire were behind the required run rate and still needed 41 with four overs to go.
That was down to seventeen from the final six balls bowled by Neil Carter but they were restricted to eight runs and Warwicks won by eight runs.
Warwickshire are home to Nottinghamshire in a County Championship game at Edgbaston starting on Tuesday. Play is due to start at 11am and commentary can be heard via the BBC Coventry & Warwickshire website.
