Division 2 was always and Lyndworth met a stubborn Wishaw side with Findlay 62 not out holding out for a draw denying them 8 vital points which would have guaranteed promotion; at the end of the day how crucial that was to become. The match at Barby playing Standard was now crucial, a win for either club would guarantee them second place and it was Barby emphatically taking the honours with a 9 wicket 24 point win at home to Standard W.Sinclair 5-23. Barby then had to sit back and wait for the other results. Incredibly from outside the promotion places at the start of play Barby got the result they needed at Corley. Corley who look to be relegated despite last day heroics to defeated Bronze by 6 wickets. The good news for Bronze however was the 4 bonus points was enough to hold on to second and to edge Lyndworth into 3rd in a division which finished with the top three covered by 5 points. (All subject of course to checking the match report forms next week !)

At Handsworth CC it was smiles all around as the club prepared for an evening of music and celebration, last week having been crowned the WCL champions. The press were in attendance as the league trophy was presented at the tea interval of their final WCL Premier league match against Nuneaton. Highway secured second spot but in the end it was oh so close. Highway clung on 159-9 and where no sure of the top spot until they received that second batting bonus point, with Solihull Blossemfield predictably against bottom club Aston Unity.

Bedworth are early winners in Division 1 this week polishing off Walsall WMF for 87 Camwell 5-38 and easily reaching their target for 5 wickets, J Jakeman 39 N Jones 22, this result taking Four Oaks Saints out of the running and effectively promoting both themselves and Ansley, despite Saints also winning at Southam by 4 wickets in an equally low scoring match. Ansley later in the day clinched the top spot and the division 1 title with man of the match T Boyd 139 and 4-49 leading them home as Pickwick held on for the draw nine down .

In Premier reserves Four Oaks Saints took the title after beating Southam to do the 1st and 2nd XI double. A creditable campaign for the Saints who were only promoted last year. The defeat put paid to Southam's hopes of finishing second as Nuneaton took the full 24 points off Old Eds to edge above Southam into second. There second place however did not survive too long as the Bedworth result at Warwick confirmed them as runners up in this division. The 17 points for the winning draw in the end being enough to see Bedworth home with Warwick still 91 runs short and 7 down

Division 1 reserves saw the top two start the day 1 point apart but hopes of a last ball finish were dashed when the match at Lyndworth fell foul of the weather with not a ball being bowled. This left Walsall WMF needing only 3 points to be sure of the top spot and they made sure of these with a draw at home to Kings Heath, who hung on at 113 for 7

Division 2 saw Streetly announce to the results service as "Streetly 2nds Champions of the world! 127 for 1, Yeend 51 not out, 20 points. Castlebrom 126 all out", a little overstated possibly however the 20 points was enough to put pay to Stockton's ebbing hopes. Stockton confirmed second spot with an impressive 291 for 7 against Corley.
