Southam find themselves top of Division 1 table this week, after a 24 point home win against Pak Shaheen. Walsall WMF dropped 7 points as Bronze clung onto a draw at 108 for 8 chasing 201, whilst in a local derby Stockton hosting Offchurch could not chase down 207 falling well short. Southam took just 17 overs to demolish Pak Shaheeen for 64, with Oliver Pilgrim 5 for 24 and Jordan Calcutt 3 for 23, with only Purushottan Dubey offering real resistance at number 4, batting thru for 17 not out. The Southam chase did not go entirely to play with 4 back in the pavilion for 13 and at 40 for 6 there was small glimmer of hope for Pak Shaheen, but 26 not out from Henry Wilkins saw the home team thru and top of the pile after 8 matches. Offchurch mean while had Nadeem Sajid with 80 before being run out, 7th wicket down to thank for getting his side to 207 for 9 off their 50 overs. The Stockton innings was a story of several batsmen getting in but no one going on to make a big score. Terry Cooper was again the pick of their batsmen but his 36 typified an innings were 6 batsmen got to double figures in a score of 144. Azam Sakander with 4 for 41 was the pick of the Offchurch bowlers , with Nadeem Sajid cementing a man of the match performance mopping up the tail with 3 quick wickets for 8 runs.

In division 2 Rugby and Marston green have been the pace setters and this week they met at Webb Ellis Road. Marston Green took the honours in one of several matches in the WCL this week affected by rain. Batting first Marston Green made 186 for 7 off 38 overs with Sammi Ullah 74 leading the way after 3 quick early wickets, 2 to Matthew Ewer who finished with 3 for 49, aided by Gary Broome (29) and Dean Tune (31no). The declaration came with 32 overs left in the match, which opened up almost all possible results. Rugby however were quickly in trouble losing 5 wickets before Edward Benfield joined Matthew Ewer. Together with 53 and 26 respectively they saved the draw for Rugby for were 8 down at the close for 129, well behind on run rate but enough to earn 4 points plus bonus points to make 8 whilst Marston Green walked away with 16 points and the top spot.

The premier division was more of the same this week with top three Streetly , Bablake and Olton and WW, opening it a small gap to 4th placed Fillongley who were Bablake’s visitors this week. Bablake and Streetly had 17 point winning draws leaving Streetly still 5 points in advance of the Coventry club. Olton and West Warwick hosting bottom club Ansley found themselves chasing 187 after steady bowling prevented any batsmen reaching 50, Yasir Ali 31 being the pick. Jamie Hawkins, Sunil Vyakaranam and Darren Kok taking 2 wickets each, before 2nd change Nathan Docker removed the lower order with 4 for 45. On a day with much rain around and several low scores as in general the bowlers prevailed in the WCL, 187 could have been a tricky score, but an opening stand of 129 between Liam Gately (88) and Chris Joiner who went on to finish 52 not out saw Olton and WW may easy work of their task reaching 192 for 2 in 43 overs.
