This week instead of the premier division let’s start in Division 3 where the race for the title appears to be between Wishaw, Knowle and Dorridge, and Hampton and Solihull with these teams separated by only 6 points and 43 clear of 4th place. At the start of play Wishaw , top where , well clear but saw their lead slip when visiting lowly Weoley Hill themselves in need of the points to avoid relegation . Weoley Hill batting first saw Luke Chadwick and Ben Homer, thankfully recovered from a nasty blow on the head 2 weeks ago, put on a solid 50 stand for their first wicket before both went in quick succession to the bowling of Robert Crowley. Weoley Hill steadied the ship and partnerships of 58 and 68 for the 3rd and fourth wicket saw them reach 177 for 3, Chris Graham anchoring the innings with 57. Weoley Hill then lost 3 quick wickets and at 177 for 6 Wishaw were back in the match before, Alan Barnickle with a better than run a ball 34 saw the home team to a competitive 226 for 7 at 50 overs and tea. After tea Weoley Hill soon had their visitors in trouble at 34 for 4, Jason Brookes and Chris Graham sharing the wickets of the top 4. After this set back the win was beyond Wishaw but they displayed fighting qualities and with middle order contributions from Tejpal Chagar (28), Sam Massey (37), Andrew Sale (50 no) and Robert Knight (26), reaching 184 for 7 at the close. Weoley Hill 17 points and Wishaw 10, but also 10 dropped as both Knowle and Dorridge and Hampton and Solihull achieved 20 point wins. Hampton defeated Nether Whitacre by 6 wickets with M Proudman 93 no pick of their batsmen, and Knowle and Dorridge took 20 points off Wolvey.

In the big game in the Premier the spoils went to Bablake OB who closed the gap to 1 win (20 points) when they met Streetly, at Norman Place Road. Bablake 217 for 9 in this one, almost pulled off a win which would have closed the gap still further but were denied by a tenacious Streetly side who made only 129 but most importantly where not all out, a draw. Highway winners with 24 points and Olton and West Warwick winning draw at Fillongly and 18 points keep up their outside hopes of taking the title in 3rd and 4th.

Division 1 saw no change with Southam, and Four Oaks Saints both winning to stay ahead of Stockton and Old Eds, whilst three teams, Marston Green, Rugby and Standard seem to be fighting for 2 promotion places in Division 2. Advantage Rugby this week as they took 24 points whilst their rivals took 20 (Marston Green) and 17 (Standard). Lloyd 56 not out and Ewer 80 not out sealed the victory at Sheldon Marlborough for Rugby, knocking off the required 182 for the loss of 2 wickets. Marston Green has a similarly impressive victory at Solihull Municipal but batting second have won the toss saw them give up 4 points. Standard met an Aston Unity side which despite still being in a relegation position have started in recent weeks to turn their season around. This week despite Standard scoring 272 for 7, P Jones 102, Phillips 53 Not Out, they showed why they are giving themselves a survival chance, tenaciously hanging on at 154 for 7 for 7 points to standards 17. Marston Green are top 9 points ahead of Rugby who changed places with Standard, third, and a further point adrift. Lyndworth top scorers in the WCL this week remain fourth.
