Season ends in Lower Divisions
Graham Seal
Division 3 ended with heart break for Knowle and Dorridge at Weoley Hill. The Birmingham club had been subject to vandalism and arson attack last weekend and made every effort to stage this important match up. Weoley Hill scored 189 All Out with C Graham 64 and K bray for K&D 6-42. It was a close one with Weoley Hill coming home by 19 runs. Hampton and Solihull meanwhile have Tim Keyte 7 for 38 to thank as they dispatched Ambleside for 127 losing 4 wickets in chasing down the total. The 18 point swing on the day left Hampton 10 points clear at the top.
Division 4 was settled 2 weeks ago when run away leaders Five Ways Old Eds, although stumbling in a couple of games put themselves well clear of the pack. Second place however could have gone anywhere, and it seems to have been Griff and Coton who clung on by the narrowest of margins on the day and overall, 1 point. They were 214 for 9 at the close against RMCC. If that wicket had fallen then RMCC with another 7 points would have draw level with Erdington Court. Erdington Court cruised past Hunningham but the win is
reported as being worth 20 points, again a 24 point win would have put them second. Then sitting there looking at the table the last result in
Collycroft vs Oakfiled. A win by either side would have had them second ,but in a high scoring match Collycroft at 282 for 8 held on, and denied their opponents second spot.
Aston and Wilnecote topped division 5. Again fine margins came into play. With Walmley winning at Stocking ford Wilnecote and Star Alvis were engaged in a thriller which went to the wire with Wilnecote 1 wicket victors to take second. That result and a win by Peugeot appear to have put Star Alvis into the bottom 2.
In division 6 the rivalry between two big local clubs went the way of
Bedworth. It was in there hand at the start of the day and a had them taking the title over Nuneaton.
In the single teams most of the issues were settled before the start of play and wins by Walsall WmF 3rd, and Willclare sees them win Divisions 1 and 2 respectively. Division 3 has Quinton in top spot with 1 result outstanding.
