Warwickshire's Chris Woakes played for England in their T20 game against Sri Lanka but it ended in a nine wicket defeat.
England batted first at the County Ground in Bristol and had lost Michael Lumb and Chris Kieswetter with only twelve runs on the board.
Eoin Morgan hit three sixes and four fours in a innings of 47 before he was dismissed in the 12th over. In the next over, Kevin Pietersen who had worked well with Morgan at the crease making 41 joined him back in the pavillion.
England were on 101-4 but wickets started to tumble with the likes of Patel, Wright, Woakes who had made seven before he was caught and Chris Broad all lost their wickets cheaply and England were restricted to a total of 136-9 from their twenty overs.
When Woakes bowled, he was hit by Mahela Jayawardene (72 not out) and former Warwickshire batsman Kumar (43 not out) for 31 in his threeovers.
The pair put on 97 after Jayasuriya had gone for eight to see the tourists through to a nine wicket victory.
