Chris Woakes saved Warwickshire's blushes on the second day of the County Championship game against Hampshire.
Warwicks resumed at Edgbaston at 45-1 and were soon in trouble with Darren Maddy, a victim of Kabir Ali with only a run added.
Jon Trott followed three balls later and in the next over, Ian Bell was caught for 17.
Clarke went for one, followed by Troughton and Botha for 13 apiece as Warwicks reeled at 98-7.
It needed a hero and Chris Woakes stepped up to take the mantle. A superb innings saw him hit two sixes and seventeen fours in 200 balls for an unbeaten 136 which along with knocks of 54 from Tim Ambrose, 62 from Neil Carter and 40 from Imran Tahir saw Warwicks 382 all out, some 99 runs ahead of Hants first innings total.
Hants were 3-0 before bad light stopped play.
