Coventry Ska-day just got better.
On 29thOctober, hopefully some 8,000 ska fans will descend on Coventry to watch The Specials make a glorious return to their home town (along with Cov band The Tones) at the Ricoh Arena.
Just to keep the 2-Tone types entertained 2-Tone Central Promotions will be hosting a pre-concert party gig “Sent 2 Coventry” at The Spencer Club, on Albany Road opening at 2.00pm.
The Sent 2 Coventry concert features The Three (Coventry Automatics Silverton Hutchinson’s new band making their debut), Ska-Waddy and The Allskas (With The Selecter’s Aitch Bembridge) plus a rare DJ set from Neol Davies AKA The Selecter. 2-Tone Central’s Artist liaison and Event Manager Neil Twigger said,“This is going to be a cracking gig, there will be over 8,000 ska fans in Cov that day, we can accommodate 300 of them, so a sell out is very much on the cards. The line-up is phenomenal, three terrific bands and Neol Davies DJing, bring it on I say”.
Before the concert there’s a chance for our guests to walk The historic 2-Tone Trail around the streets of Coventry (meeting at the Spencer at 12.30pm,you must have a ticket to walk the guided tour). Also on offer is the first phase of the city’s 2-Tone Village project based on Ball Hill, Walsgrave Road. The 2-Tone Corner shop is already trading it’s amazing clothes selection (and already attracting the stars) and it’s themed 2-Tone Corner Cafe will be up-and-running by 29th October!
Tickets for the gig are £8.00, and for The Trail are £2.00. Available from www.2tonecentral.co.uk, or 2-Tone Corner, Unit 7 The Courtyard, R/O 74-80 Walsgrave Road,CV2 4ED, Skopes Menswear, West Orchards,The Spencer Club, Albany Road & Midnight, Coventry Market.
