The 2-Tone Village have once again teamed up with Paul Williams & Specialized in a major fundraising concert for Teenage Cancer Trust and for the Coventry Music Museum. 2-Tone legends The Beat are making a very rare appearance in the city for this high profile concert. Also on the bill are The Talks, they appeared at last years Specialized ‘The Big One’ at Parkdean, and blew everyone away with their unique brand of ‘old meets new ‘ ska. Also on the bill are the amazing Coventry band This Modern Youth who have become a Specialized favourite, plus DJ Nutty Beats, DJ Dave and DJ Davie Moran. This is just part of the Specialized project that will see a CD released of cover version of Beat songs and a massive weekend festival in November.
The gig in association with The Print Works and Coventry Market is on Sat 16th March at Hush Gosford St (now part of Coventry University Student Union) doors at 7.00pm 18plus. Back in the day this was the old Paris Cinema and Rileys Snooker Club, a site that was earmarked to become the HQ for 2-Tone Records, sadly that never happened, but it’s great synergy to see The Beat one of the original 2-Tone bands actually playing at this brand new venue. It’s been quite some time since The Beat played in Coventry so this is something of an event for the city.
Tickets priced at £12 are available from the 2-Tone Village, Ball Hill, European Mini Market, Gosford St, Skopes Menswear in West Orchards, Vinyl Destination in Coventry Market and online at www.2tonecentral.co.uk
