So Much For Young

Last Friday Coventry's very own music museum, had the pleasure of a visit from children at Thorns Primary School in Dudley. The 28 students, who were aged seven plus their teachers, loved the hands on appeal of the museum. They delighted in the Theremin as they created some Doctor Who-style sci-fi music. While only the brave ones kept their headphones on, whilst listening to their own voices coming back at them in a skatter dub echo stylee. Though the electric guitars proved the most popular, that and the drum kit and percussive instruments.

Work sheets and colouring in, plus pork-pie hats and sun glasses. helped to tell the Coventry 2-Tone story to these young West Midlanders. After a hearty packed lunch, the children performed a great version of the Specials chart topper Ghost Town on the stage.

The museum's Education Officer Carole Quinney said of the day, "It was a true pleasure being involved in welcoming Thorn Primary school on their visit to The Coventry Music Museum. It was a huge success and lots of fun, both for those of us from the Museum, and those in the school party. They gave a great rendition of Ghost Town!!. If any other schools are wishing to plan a visit, please get it touch. We look forward to welcoming our next generation of music lovers".
